Reflections on Hump Day

So what exactly is hump day?

The middle of a work week (Wednesday); used in the context
of climbing a proverbial hill to get through a tough week.
After hump day, the weekend gets closer.

And what defines the moment of the hump?
Lunchtime Wednesday, of course, because that is when the
work week is precisely halfway complete.

Right, but oh-so-wrong. What happens when, as occurred in
Canada this week, Monday is a holiday day?

It screws up the week ! Physics to the wind, the moment of the
hump tragically shifts to the right!

No longer is lunchtime Wednesday the defining moment.
Alas, no. Now, one must wait until the end of work on Wednesday
to reach the moment of hump.

I don’t know about you, but it’s screwing up my whole week!

No, Queen Victoria has relegated to being just a face on really really old money.

The current Queen, Elizabeth, also has that honour, but at least she can lay claim to having her face plastered onto new money too.....
